Dr. Cosmo, creator of Synapse Dental Pain Eraser, received his education at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine and Boston University Medical Center’s Department of Orthodontics.
Dr. Cosmo has published articles in respected peer-reviewed scientific publications, served on the faculty at Boston University Department of Orthodontics from 2000-2005, and continues to perform clinical research with several dental residencies, including Boston University and St. Barnabas. He has attained Diplomate status with the American Board of Orthodontics — the highest level of achievement and quality.
He developed groundbreaking communication software for orthodontists, helped design 3D imaging diagnostic aids, was chosen as a test site for 3M’s new orthodontic brace technology, and assisted with the development of new methods of measuring growth timing in children. He serves as an advisor for major medical and orthodontic companies such as EnvisionTEC and 3M.
As a pioneer in orthodontics, Dr. Cosmo remains abreast of the latest research in the field and has created several products used in orthodontics today. The Dental Pain Eraser is the first of Synapse Dental’s products to come to the market. There are currently two patents for the next product, the Stealth Retainer, and other cutting edge products are in development that will revolutionize the field of dentistry. Dr. Cosmo and Synapse Dental are committed to making pain-free dentistry a reality for dental professionals and consumers.
Mr, George Aliphtiras is a senior executive with specialization in commercialization of medical technology in North America, Europe and Asia. He serves as a Director at VANTEC Entrepreneurs Fund VCC Inc. He has over 10 years of experience in early stage company development from inception through fundraising and commercial validation, in various roles including: Board Member, CEO, Co-founder, VP of Business Development, Operations and Product Development.
Dr. Anagnostopoulos is currently Adjunct Full Professor in the Mechanical Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at the University of Rhode Island. At URI his research work has been on Lab-on-a-Chip and Lab-on-Paper devices for Point-of-Care diagnostics. His PhD work and subsequent research at Eastman Kodak Company were focused on devices for Digital Photography and Digital printing. Constantine is inventor or co-inventor in over 75 issued US patents and first author or co-author in over 60 reviewed journal publications. He is a Fellow of IEEE and Research Fellow of Eastman Kodak Company. As CTO of Synapse Dental, LLC, he has contributed to the development and manufacturing of the Dental Pain Eraser device.
Dr. John Gaitanis, a graduate of Brown Medical School, completed his neurology training at Children’s Hospital Boston. He went on to finish an epilepsy fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center before returning to Children’s Hospital Boston to join their epilepsy staff. While there, he co-founded the Comprehensive Brain Malformation Program, helping bridge clinical and basic science knowledge of these conditions. In 2004, Dr. Gaitanis returned to Brown Medical School and Hasbro Children’s Hospital where he served as the director of pediatric epilepsy. He aided in the development of ketogenic diet and epilepsy surgery programs at Brown, providing comprehensive epilepsy care for children in Rhode Island. He now serves as the Director of Child Neurology at Tufts Medical Center/Floating Hospital for Children. Apart from his clinical duties, Dr. Gaitanis serves as the Chairperson of the Matthew Siravo Memorial Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving epilepsy advocacy and education. Dr. Gaitanis’ research is aimed at improving the sensitivity of EEG through digital signal processing. He has also published original articles and book chapters on status epilepticus, cortical malformations, and epilepsy in infancy and childhood.
